Ada Regional United Way held its first-ever Golf United golf scramble at Oak Hills Golf & Country Club on Monday, September 19, 2022. “Thank you again to all of our sponsors and volunteers who worked the event,” says Ada Regional United Way Executive Director, Oriana McElwee. “We had a great turnout with 7 teams playing. Our goal was to have at least 10, but this was our first time hosting a golf tournament and it happened to be sandwiched between several others. We received great feedback on the scramble, which we are proud of, and are excited to offer this as an annual event going forward.”
Tournament winners are as follows:
1st place - Team Oak Hills Pro, Russell Bevelhymer
2nd place - Team First United Bank
3rd place - Team RamJack
The closest to the hole - Team Mead Lumber
Putting contest raffle winner - Blake Turney, Team Simmons Bank
The proceeds from the Golf United golf scramble go to Ada Regional United Way’s 2023 campaign, ‘Everyone Counts.’ They know you count as well as your time and money. No amount donated is too little or too great when it comes to serving those in your community.
Ada Regional United Way serves Pontotoc Co and parts of 8 other neighboring counties. In 2022 we are funding 17 agencies and the 22 programs within them. We fundraise through annual campaigns to give grants to other nonprofits in our service area advocating for the needs of the community. Our focus is on Health, Education, and Financial Stability which we believe are the building blocks for a good quality of life. We can’t make the kind of lasting change that we strive for alone and that is why we partner with local agencies and coalitions to create a larger impact in our community.
